Lucerne, Switzerland

My first stop was the beautiful town of Lucerne. This city is set on the edge of Lake Luzern on the Reuss River, with the Alps towering beyond the town.

Lucern is mostly medieval in architecture. The fourteenth-century covered Kapellbrücke is the oldest road bridge in Europe, marked by the distinctive stone Wasserturm (water tower).

To the right is the newer, more modern bridge.

Ariel view of Lucerne.

Like a scene from a moder-day "Sound of Music," these dudes are admiring each others' big old tube horns. "Ree-co-laaa!"

More awesome architecture.
